7 people are dead and another 48 wounded, many critically, after terrorists drove their van into pedestrians, and later got out and started stabbing people.
The attacks happened on London Bridge and Borough Market on Saturday 3rd of June at around 10pm local time.
According to BBC, Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the attack, and the names of the 3 attackers, who were shot dead by police at the scene, will be released “as soon as operationally possible”.
Twelve people remain in custody after a house believed to be that of one of the attackers, was raided.
Only one victim of the attack has been named as Christine Archibald (30), a Canadian women, who died in her fiancé’s arms. Christine’s family have said that she had “a huge heart” and that she had been working at a homeless shelter in Calgary before she moved to Europe.
At a gala event on Sunday US President Donald Trump condemned the attacks as “evil slaughter”. He went on to say, “This bloodshed must end. This bloodshed will end,” and added that he would whatever was necessary to prevent such a threat reaching the United States.
As with the Manchester bombing, Billy Graham Rapid Response Team sent ‘crisis-trained chaplains’ to the scene on Sunday. In a press release John Galvin, assistant director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and Specialized Ministries, said “Our chaplains are arriving on the scene now to come alongside the community as it deals with this tragedy. “Attacks like this stir up all kinds of emotions. Sadness, grief, fear—even anger. People can pray for all those injured in the attack, the loved ones of those killed and the first responders who have to deal with the aftermath.”
